Miriam Child Development Center
The Miriam Child Development Center is located at Good Shepherd UMC and provides a quality education in a safe environment for ages 2.5 to 12 years old. We pride ourselves on putting an emphasis on the whole child, ensuring first that each child feels loved, cared for, and encouraged to discover and learn. Curriculum is specifically designed to meet the individual needs of students.
Childcare is offered for children ages 2.5-5 years old, as long as the child is not in Kindergarten. We have 2 classrooms and serve 12 children.
We offer pre-K through our partnership with Shelby County Schools and Porter Leath for 4-year olds. Two classrooms are dedicated to pre-k, and we serve 36 children through this program.
Before- and After-care
Before- and After-care is a great option for children whose parents work longer hours than the school day. All children, ages 5 to 12 years old. Children in this program get to play in the gym before and after school.
UMNCM hosts up to 50 students over the summer. This fun and educational experience is a wonderful place for your child while school is out of session. We run for the whole summer break and charge by the week to best fit our families’ needs. The summer program is specifically designed for children ages 2.5-4 years old.
Believe You Can
Believe You Can is an after-school reading program at Longstreet UMC that helps approximately fifteen students maintain and improve their reading skills over the school year. Both a partnership with Longstreet UMC and the Wesley Foundation at the University of Memphis, this program brings in volunteers and support from all over the city to make a long-lasting impact in the lives of these families.
